Oswego, NY – With only two races in the books in 2010 so far and over a month off, the ISMA contingent is itching to get back in action on July 6. Stafford Motor Speedway is just the place to do that when the 7th annual Carquest Xtreme Tuesday event takes place. A big Independence Day Weekend at the Oswego Speedway has been made even bigger with the rained out features from June 19th starting off the afternoon at 4:00 before the regularly scheduled night of activities. All the action for the weekend kicks off on Friday night with the mid-summer WSEN Super Cruise and “Party in the Pits.” The action goes trackside on Saturday with another advanced sale Price Chopper $10 Night.
Adult grandstand ticket holders from the June 19th race will get a $5 discount off adult tickets on July 3rd. (See related Oswego Speedway website article for complete $5 discount details.)
With the addition of the June 19th feature races, the Novelis Supermodifieds will run “Twin 45’s” and PathFinder Bank SBS Series will run “Twin 30’s.” After the June 19th races are completed all the race teams will come onto the track for the Constellation and Entergy “Kids Autograph Session.” After the . . . . .

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. – A pair of drivers scored their first career victories in commanding style Saturday at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway during Crazy George’s Concrete Craziness Night at the ASA Member Track. Second generation driver Bryan Sherwood won the Sportsman Modified event, while Jerry Dineen, who has been knocking on the door all year, finally broke the lock to ASA Late Model victory lane.

WILLIAMSON, NY … Buck Catalano was finally defeated in the NASCAR Sunoco Modified division, as Chris Finocchario came home the feature winner last Friday at Spencer Speedway. Up to then, Catalano had won four NASCAR Sunoco Modified features in four starts at the speedway this year.
“I just have to thank my entire crew,” related Finocchario in victory lane. “My father is a big part of this win. We don’t always listen to him, but he is usually right.”
In the Street Stocks it was Willie Strusz taking his second feature win of the year. Strusz, who recently graduated from college in Detroit, Michigan, is also employed in that city. When time offers, he makes the five hour trek back to Spencer . . . . .

Pueblo, Colo. – Colorado supermodified veteran Harold Evans took the lead at the halfway point of the Englewood Racing Association’s main event Saturday night at I-25 Speedway and proceeded to pull away for his first win of the 2010 season. After 12 cars made the May 29 ERA opener at Colorado National Speedway, eight winged supermodifieds made the trek to I-25, a tight quarter-mile oval located about two hours south of Denver. The supermodified event was a part of I-25’s Open Wheel Clash, a special event that featured Grand American modifieds, legends . . . . .

The Oswego County Quarter Midget Club (OCQMC) held a regular points race on Sunday (Father’s Day). Race wins were scored by Dalton Megnin, Payton Gorman, Rich Elston, Addison Bowman, Zach Sobotka, Brett Draper and Gabby Fortino.
This Saturday, the club will be holding its second promotion day. For a small fee, those between the ages of 5 and 16 will be given the opportunity to take some laps around the club’s track. Located at the corner of Howard and Silk Roads in Volney, the track will be offer rides from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in quarter midget cars. For more . . . . .

Lancaster, New York – The “Mighty Modifieds” returned home to Dunn Tire Raceway Park on Saturday as the Race of Champions Modified Tour rolled into town for a 75 lap feature event. Ransomville’s Chuck Hossfeld earned his third checkered flag in as many 2010 Race of Champions (R.O.C.) Dart Asphalt Modified Tour starts Friday night at Spencer Speedway, holding off Wilbur Hebing to win the 75-lap main event. Despite missing the season-opener at Albany-Saratoga Speedway back in April, Hossfeld’s three straight wins since then have put him atop the series points standings.

Supermodified fans and competitors will start to see the pits become a bit more crowded over the coming weeks as teams yet to hit the Oswego Speedway put the final touches on their 2010 rides. Mexico’s Michael Barnes says his Osetek-Buske creation is scheduled to visit the track as early as this weekend.
Barnes says cockpit issues have delayed their season debut a few weeks, but other than a few final touches, the car is all squared and ready to go. Initially, the team’s primary goal will be just to get it rolling around Oswego’s fast 5/8 oval, but . . . . .

The Oswego County Quarter Midget Club (OCQMC) held a regular points race on Sunday, offering up the stage for feature wins to be had by Rich Elston, AmyLynn Holland, Eymarah Bowman, Brett Draper, Addison Bowman, Payton Gorman and Gabby Fortino.
The club hits the track again on Sunday, June 20. The track is located in Volney at the corner of Howard and Silk Roads. Admission and parking are free. Gates open at 8:30 am, with practice beginning at 9:30 am.
