WORDEN AND BERTOLONE WIN THEIR FIRSTS FEATURES IN 2010

WILLIAMSON, NY…Ryan Beeman, from Fulton, took top honors in the Sunoco Modified feature last Friday at Spencer Speedway. For Beeman it was his first win of the season and his third of his career at the speedway.

Holland, NY – The Budweiser 100, an annual late season racing tradition at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex since 1964, will undergo a major change for the 2010 edition. The NASCAR Raginwolf.com Pro Modifieds will be the featured class in this year’s version of the classic event at the Western New York oval.

NIGHT RACING AND 100-LAP DISTANCE POSE NEW CHALLENGES TO THE TOURING PROFESSIONALS
TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. – The Race of Champions Tour, the premier paved track modified series in New York State, makes it second appearance of 2010 at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway on Sunday night, August 1. It’s titled “Return of the ROC’n Concrete Rumble” but that doesn’t mean it’s the same show that thrilled a packed house back in May.

This week’s SuperStar of the Week doesn’t even live near here. She’s never turned a wheel on the track, or owned a racecar. But, she’s done more for the sport than many people who drive or own cars.

Sue Delong has been involved in many different facets of racing and helping people. She’s crewed for many small block teams, such as Shawn Walker, Steve Austin, Guard Nearbin, and others. She’s been involved in the guidance and leadership of the NORA small block supermodified organization, doing many jobs and holding different positions. Sue is currently listed as the internet coordinator for the Eagles Fan Club and NORA, but . . . . .

South Plattsburgh – Chris Cayea of Mooers pulled away from the field with the Begor’s Supply No. 18 in the closing laps of the 30-lap Modified main event to claim his first career win at Airborne Speedway.
Cayea’s win came soon after Jamy Begor had held off Bucko Branham to score his first win of the season in the J&S Steel Sportsman feature.

Holland, NY – A thunderstorm complete with a heavy rainfall moved into the Holland area as pre-race practice at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex was underway on Saturday, July 24th, forcing postponement of the scheduled George Decker Memorial 100 for the NASCAR Ragingwolf.com Pro Modifieds to Saturday, July 31st. The rain-out was the third of the 2010 season.

Sandusky, OH – London, Ontario’s Mark Sammut finally won his first and second winged ISMA features in 2009 after more than a decade of trying. He finished runner-up in ISMA points at year’s end. But, 2010 had not gone as well as the 78 team would have liked. In the first five races of the ISMA season, their best finish had been a sixth, that is until Saturday night’s 33rd annual Hy-Miler Nationals at Sandusky Speedway.

This past Sunday, the Oswego County Quarter Midget Club held a regular points show at its home track in Volney.
Addison Bowman took top honors in the Jr. Honda class and continues to hold a comfortable lead in the division’s season points standings.
Results in the Sr. Honda and Light 160 classes saw Amylynn Holland and Zach Sobotka swap last week’s finishing positions. Holland scored the victory in the Sr. Honda class while finishing second in the Light 160 division. Sobotka ran runner-up to Holland in the Sr. Honda class, but took the win in the Light 160′s.
Sobotka still leads Holland in the Sr. Honda points, while Holland continues to hold the advantage over Sobotka in the Light 160′s.
Bailey Groves swept the Heavy Honda and Heavy 160 events. Groves holds a slim lead over Brett Draper in the Heavy Honda points standings. In turn, Draper holds the advantage over Groves in the Heavy 160 class.

Sandusky, OH – Despite the fact that it was 10:30 Saturday morning at Sandusky Speedway, Dave Shullick Jr. proved he was was wide-awake and ready to go racing. Shullick, starting fourth on the grid, moved by race leader Rob Summers on a lap 5 restart and proverbially never looked back. The 40-lap Hy-Miler ISMA preliminary had been rained out on Friday night and was begun at 10:30 am. It was the fifth different winner and team at the fifth different racetrack to date this ISMA season. Shullick, who exited the last race with mechanical ills, was more than pleased with Booth-61 ride.
