Chemung Schedule Changes Include a First for Two Sanctioning Bodies

By Carol Houssock

(Chemung, NY) Officials with Chemung Speedrome announced some major changes to the schedule for the month of September. The first of those changes involves moving championship night from Friday, September 6th to Friday, September 20th with a rain date of Saturday, September 21st.

The first weekend in September will now feature a two-day show. On Friday, September 6th Chemung will run its own Super Stock division in a memorial race for the late Ed Bidlack. The 42-lap race distance represents his car number. Bidlack was murdered, along with his wife, earlier this summer. Also on tap that night are National Qualifiers for the INEX Legends and Bandoleros. Pit gates open at 4 PM, grandstand at 5 PM, practice at 6 PM and racing at 7 PM. Admission for this one is slashed to $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and free for kids ages 12 and under.

The lineup for day two took a bit of negotiating to make happen, and it will be a first for the groups involved. On Saturday, September 7th the show will feature the RoC 4 Cylinders (25 Laps), the RoC Sportsman Modifieds (75 Laps), and the New York Super Stock (NYSS) series (50 Laps). This will be the second appearance at Chemung this year for the 4 Cylinders, the first for the Sportsman Modifieds, and the third for the NYSS series. Admission for the Saturday portion of the double-header will be $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pits will open at 2 PM, grandstands at 3 PM, practice at 4 PM, and racing at 5 PM.

The other change is that the track has added a make-up night for the show lost on July 19th. This will be a regular show, on September 13th.

As mentioned previously, the point races for the track’s five regular divisions will end on Friday, September 20th. That show is sponsored by Laser Art Studio.

These changes will appear on the track’s website: www.chemungspeedrome.net and on its Facebook page, Chemung Speedrome – Racing at the Drome.
